ŮŮÊÓƵhas produced and published the Australian Mineral Exploration Review since 2009. This annual assessment of Australia’s exploration industry draws on data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and company reporting to reveal exploration trends, activities, significant results and mineral discoveries from across Australia. The insights provided by the publication support the development and implementation of government strategy and decision-making, and the attraction of investment into Australia’s mining sector.

Australia has a rich and diverse mineral endowment, a world-class resources industry and long history of discovering high-quality mineral resources. Between 2017 and 2023, one in four world class mineral discoveries were made in Australia. Despite this, much of the continent remains under-explored and there is still considerable opportunity for the growth of Australia’s resources sector.

Exploration companies in Australia are supported by federal, state and territory government initiatives that promote mineral exploration in known and frontier regions. Under the Resourcing Australia’s Prosperity initiative, ŮŮÊÓƵfosters a strong and diverse resources sector by using innovative data, research and analysis to assess national potential for a broad range of the resources critical to the net zero transition.
