Data National mineral and fossil collection

ŮŮÊÓƵis custodian of the National Mineral and Fossil Collection which includes world-class mineral, meteorite, gemstone and fossil specimens.

We manage these collections in accordance with Geoscience Australia's collections management and preservation policy.

We are making changes to the way we manage and deliver the National Mineral and Fossil Collection.

As part of these changes we are currently not accepting donations, making loans or providing access to specimens. We are also reviewing our National Mineral and Fossil Collection webpage to reflect these changes.

You can still visit over 700 specimens on permanent display in the ŮŮÊÓƵfoyer, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm, at our headquarters in Symonston, Canberra.

Parts of the collection can also be viewed online through a collaboration with the Google Arts and Culture, showcasing some of the rare, fragile, and valuable specimens:
